Higher Sticklepath Crags

There is one modest crag of rock to be easily viewed above Skaigh Lane, to the south-west of Higher Sticklepath.

The most prominent section at the given grid reference presents as a jagged outcrop composed of metamorphic rock, similar to that seen in the Teign Valley. Grass covers the small summit area with a good view of the minor road below. Other rocks extend to the west but these are small, overgrown and a little indistinct, likely having been created by the road cutting. That said, it is good evidence of how close the bedrock is to the surface in this area.

First described by Paul Rendell in Dartmoor News Issue 170 September/October 2019, the crags are easy to visit and can be seen on Google Street View.
