Netton Cleave Higher Tor Set deep in the heart of the wood that cloaks Netton Cleave is a dark and brooding tor of considerable proportions. It is quite hard to find amid the trees and the steepening slope here, but it actually spreads over an area of some 200 metres or so downhill.  Totally obscured like all the other rockpiles in the vicinity, the scruffy higher rocks are embedded in the hillside and are mostly entangled with the gnarled roots of trees that have grown over the granite. The result is a series of weird shapes that create an eerie landscape. Spilling through the trees below, the tor's rocks continue to reach what is a much better outcrop set just above one of the main tracks leading through the wood at SX 8212 8201, this being a path that provides either a good point of access or exit depending upon your approach.  The tor is another of the Max Piper and Paul Rendell discoveries from their pioneering excursion of December 2019, located thanks to Steve Grigg who drew their attention to the lowest rockpile only a couple of months prior in October.
